Silica Needled Mat — 1050℃ High Silica Insulation Mat
Silica needled mat costs roughly three times what E-glass needle mat costs, and I talk buyers out of it at least as often as I sell it. I have been in glass fiber out of Chongqing since the late eighties. Over-specifying high temperature insulation is the most common waste I see in this trade. Somebody reads 1050℃ on a data sheet, decides more headroom is safer, and pays for a grade their process will never reach.
So let us start with when you should not buy it.

Quartz Fiber Needle Felt for Thermal Protection Above 1100℃
Quartz fiber needle felt is the grade I quote after somebody has already cooked one insulation job. I have been shipping glass fiber out of Chongqing since the late eighties. The call always has the same shape. A line runs hotter than the spec sheet promised, high silica goes in, and eighteen months later the mat is a brittle biscuit, and the plant manager wants to know who signed off on it.
Quartz fiber needle felt answers that call. It is also the most over-sold item in my catalogue, and I would rather tell you where the line sits than sell you a container you do not need.

7628 fiberglass fabric moves more square meters through copper-clad lines than any other glass style. The weave is only half the story. Finish chemistry and roll inspection to decide whether your press runs clean or fights fisheyes all week. Needled Fiberglass Mat — 650C Binder-Free Insulation and Sound Absorption
Needled fiberglass mat is the easiest product in my catalogue to undersell. I have worked glass fiber out of Chongqing since the late eighties, and nearly every failed job I have been called to fix came down to one decision made early. Somebody picked a thickness by looking at a price list instead of at the part. Needled fiberglass mat does a lot of things well. It does not do them at 3 mm when the job needs 15.
